International Control Room Week

It’s International Control Room Week, and to celebrate this K Lamb Associates are pleased to announce that we have successfully delivered our inaugural Fire Control Commanders Course in the UK. Developed over a six-month period in collaboration with training staff from Humberside Fire, the course aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of fire control commanders in emergency response management. The Course is underpinned by SFJ Awards utilising the Customer Certification Service. (CCS)

The need for effective fire control management has become increasingly apparent in the face of complex emergency scenarios. To address this demand, KLA, a leader in specialist training services, partnered with Humberside FRS to create a comprehensive training program designed to empower fire control commanders, and provide an accredited course aligned to the requirements of the National Operational Guidance.

The pilot course was meticulously developed through a collaborative approach. Humberside FRS & Essex County Fire both provided invaluable insights that shaped the curriculum, ensuring it meets the current needs of fire control commanders. Most importantly the course utilises a Service’s Fire Control Training software to fully support the candidates in a known environment,

Course Content: The curriculum covers critical areas such as incident command principles, communication strategies, and decision-making processes during emergencies.

Each Candidate: Is provided with bespoke feedback against the Effective Command Fire Control behavioural markers as well as the course learning outcomes

Feedback: Already received said that “the course did exactly what it said on the tin”, and “there were no changes that needed to be made, this was a very pleasant surprise”

“One participant on their first day back in the workplace has already made changes to improve the way they work”

Participants shared positive feedback, highlighting the relevance and applicability of the training, stating the course was “insightful, challenging but enjoyable”.

The successful launch of the Fire Control Commanders Course underpins KLA’s dedication to enhancing the effectiveness of fire control operations within the UK.

“This course marks a significant step in K Lamb Associate’s continuous commitment to advancing fire service training, as it directly addresses the leadership and command aspects of fire control commanders. The collaboration with Humberside Fire and Rescue has proven fruitful, setting a strong foundation for future training initiatives, I’m very grateful of the support of all those that put their trust in me in putting this together”. Costa Olymbios Course Director / Course Author.
