Advanced Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Service
Advanced Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Service
North Yorkshire Fire (NYFRS) are the latest service to host a SFJ Awards, Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident command. Delivered in-house by one of K lamb Associates (KLA) delivery teams, the course was made even more interesting by the inclusion of another delegate from Humberside Fire. The individuals experience enriches the learning between delegates enhancing the group discussions.
Greater Manchester Fire (GMFRS) continue with their 2024/25 Advanced and Strategic Incident Commander Revalidation Assessment Programme. Once again, with the expert facilitation of a KLA delivery team, Incident Commanders at Level 3 (ICL3) and Level 4 (ICL4 (Tactical)) experienced bespoke and complex scenarios. GMFRS’s Command Support Unit and accompanying team provided excellent support to the IC’s adding a realism to the whole experience. Also, utilising their Command Support Officers, the delegates received a fully immersive experience testing their skill and resilience in dealing with incredibly challenging scenarios. KLA assessors, using the appropriate Effective Command (EC) Behavioural Marking Framework, skilfully collect the evidence through observation and give individual constructive feedback to the delegates.
“Enjoyable assessment again and Peter and the team were very supportive. Professional discussion aided my development and sought to understand the rationale for my decision making, offering areas where this could be strengthened in a constructive way.” ICL4 (Tactical).
“Another great experience of level 4 assessment with the KLA team. As always, a very professional and competent team, offering a fair and transparent session which aided my learning and development.” CL4 (Tactical).
Warwickshire Fire invited KLA to return and facilitate more ICL2 and ICL3 Revalidation Assessments. An organisation renowned for investing in the continued assessment of their Incident Commanders, a KLA delivery team spent two full on days facilitating the revalidations. Great scenarios reflecting the risks in the county, each delegate stepped up to the challenge to maximise their experience.
