Looking back at 2024 as we look forward to 2025
Katherine Lamb and K Lamb Associates Ltd have posted yet another impressive year of delivering Incident Command Training and Assessment. In 2024, as an SFJ Awards accredited centre, our Associates successfully delivered a remarkable 156 combined SFJ Awards qualification/ CCS courses and Incident Command Assessments (Level 1-4). The courses included the whole suite including SFJ Awards Level 3 (Initial), Level 4 (Intermediate), Level 6 (Advanced), Level 7 (Strategic) and Level 4 Designing and Delivering Incident Command Training. Not only delivering alongside the UK Fire Service, but our associates also took the KLA ethos overseas to countries including Malaysia, Bermuda, Estonia, Athens and The States of Jersey.
The last course of 2024, a SFJ Awards Level 4 Award in Intermediate Incident Command, was delivered in Northamptonshire Fire. The feedback below, verified and authentic, reminds us just how important our work with the UK Fire Service continues to be.
“Overall, it was a great course. I would say it's one of the best courses I have been on, and I have done over 20yrs in the Fire Service attending lots of Courses in that time. The instructors were clearly experienced and made the learning environment really engaging.” SFJ Level 4 Award – Northamptonshire FRS
“Excellent course well delivered. Great trainers with a high level of subject knowledge.” SFJ Level 4 Award – Northamptonshire FRS
2024 saw us launch a few new products that have proved a big hit. Firstly, a Fire Control Command Course which Humberside Fire were the first to experience. Feedback has been excellent, and it has generated more interest from other services Fire Control leads. Also, a SFJ Awards, Level 7 Award in Revalidation of Strategic Incident Command, delivered either in-person or on-line this course is proving very popular as Strategic Commanders look to maintain their competence in this area. In addition, we have a revised suite of Strategic and Tactical Level Command Hours products in partnership with Joe Hassell Command. They take the form of Group or individual sessions centred mainly around decision making exercises.
The Effective Command Behavioural Marking Tool (EC) has again formed the backbone of all KLA’s assessments of Incident Command at all levels. Generating over 1.2 million data points and growing, unlike any other behavioural marking process available, KLA use this invaluable data to help identify trends and therefore contribute to and shape Incident Command Training and Assessment in the UK Fire Service.
On behalf of Katherine Lamb and all KLA’s Associates we thank you our clients, colleagues and friends for making 2024 such an exceptional and wonderful year. We look forward to continuing our journey with you in 2025 hopefully helping in some way to influence the way Incident Command Training and Assessments are conducted in the future.
We wish you all a happy and safe new year.
